If we can’t expect our soldiers to notice kids in the back seat of a car that they are firing on, then we can’t expect the enemy’s soldiers to be any more discriminating. These type of excuses cut both ways. Same with torture; if we think torture is a valuable tool in combatting the enemy, then we can’t expect the enemy to be any more humane.

Yes, war is hell, ladies and gentlemen, and a just war is regrettable, but a fake war, or a war fought for the wrong reasons, is murderous, shameful and inhumane.
